This person does not exist
As some of you know, I research artificial intelligence and synthetic media. This is also part of my study Future Design. In the coming weeks, I will share some of my findings with you that you might find interesting as well.
Take a look at this website. The person you see is computer generated and does not exist.

How does it work?
Philip Wang created the website thispersondoesnotexist. It makes use of an AI system developed by Nvidia, Called StyleGAN2. This system takes in a very high amount of images. It uses two neural networks, which are algorithms modelled like the neurons in a brain. First, it generates a new image from the dataset based on probability; this is called the generator (neural network 1). It then tries to determine whether that image is a fake or a real face. This is done by the discriminator (neural network 2). After testing itself, it eventually outputs a fake image that is almost impossible to tell apart from the real ones.
Who’s pictures are used for this?
The Flickr-Faces-HQ Dataset that is used for this consists of 70,000 high-quality PNG images from Flickr. Only images under permissive licenses were collected.
